University of Virginia's Movement Disorders Program offers comprehensive care for patients with:
  • Parkinson's Disease and related disorders
  • Huntington's Disease
  • Ataxia and cerebellar syndromes
  • Tremor
  • Dystonia: We offer specialized evaluation and treatment of dystonia, including both clinical and electrophysiologic evaluation for diagnosis and treatment with both drugs and botulinum toxin (Botox) injections. Click here to review an article about dystonias and their treatment.

A movement disorder can be a frightening and overwhelming experience. Our caregivers attend to both the physical and emotional needs of patients and their families. Our patients benefit from a variety of rehabilitation services that helps restore and/or maintain maximum functioning. We offer:

  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech and language therapy
  • Neuropsychological testing
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Evaluation for home health care needs

Children with movement disorders are treated and rehabilitated in conjunction with special services of the Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center, including the Motion Analysis Lab.
