Health System

Most of the health-care facilities at UVa, including those of the Neurology Department, operate under the aegis of the Health System. Historically, the Health Sciences Center was an outgrowth of the University of Virginia School of Medicine which, in 1825, became the tenth medical school in the U.S. to open its doors.

The facilities of the UVa Health System are more than adequate to accomplish its mission, and it's expansion plans ensure that this will be the case far into the future.
