Historical Collections and Services is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of the history of the health sciences at UVa and around the world. We invite you to visit us. | Joan Echtenkamp Klein | Alvin V. & Nancy Baird Curator for Historical Collections
Joan joined the Library in January 1982 and became the first professional curator for Historical Collections & Services. Joan actively seeks to make Historical Collections materials visible and accessible by encouraging and incorporating new technologies such as digitizing rare holdings and creating Web exhibits. She organizes the annual History of the Health Sciences Lecture Series, promoting a greater understanding of the historical and philosophical foundations of today’s health care disciplines. She holds a dual appointment with the School of Medicine and works closely with the Center for Humanism in Medicine.

| Normajean Hultman | Normajean N. Hultman joined the library in November of 2007 as Historical Collections Assistant. | Claudia C. Sueyras | Historical Collections Specialist
Claudia joined the Library in March of 2006 as Historical Collections Specialist. Her main responsibilities include the management and production of all digital projects in the department, the management of all daily operations within Historical Collections, and the management of the department’s collection. She is also a main resource for public service in the department.
