Plantar Pressure Measurement
|
We recently acquired EMED and Pedar systems from Novel Gmbh (Munich, Germany) for measuring the distribution of pressures under the foot. The EMED system is essentially a high resolution force plate. The patient simply walks over the platform while barefoot, and a pressure distribution on the foot during stance phase is generated.
The Pedar systems consists of thin, flexible insoles which are placed inside the patient's shoe, between the bottom of the foot and the shoe. Like the EMED system, the output is a pressure distribution of the foot during stance. We also place the insoles between a patient's foot and their orthosis. This enables us to measure the pressure that the orthosis is exerting over the entire area of the foot. Download AVI Demo of EMED (317 KB)Novel's web site may be found at: |
